About Berks Works

Hi my name is Berkeley Kittredge I am the owner and soaper of Berks Works. In 2022 a family friend taught me how to make soap and from then on I was hooked, never having to buy soap again at the store, sign me up!

I love creating new recipes with my focus on being all natural and using nature to drive my ideas and get inspiration from. For example I primarily use essential oils instead of fragrance oils. I like using charcoal and turmeric powders to color the soap and add medicinal benefits.

Berks Works primarily makes cold-processed soap but we do some glycerin based soaps on request.

I love the soap business and look forward to creating all sorts of skin care products that are good for you and good for the earth. I’ve always been a back to basics kind of person - technology has its place - but I prefer exploring the natural world connecting with animals and nature.

I enjoy working with my hands and creating soap with products that come straight from the earth. It blends the creative with the minimalist. I like to live a  low carbon footprint lifestyle. I garden, compost, dry my clothes on a clothesline and cook from scratch.

When I’m not in the soap kitchen I love taking my dogs for walks, going to the beach, swimming off the dock, camping and hopefully one day backpacking.
